By the end of this guide you’ll have fonts uploaded, a license configured with pricing, and a working checkout you can test with a Stripe test card.11Your dashboard has a to-do checklist that tracks these same steps. This guide walks through them in the order that gets you to a test sale fastest.
Switch to test mode by clicking your site name in the top of the sidebar and selecting Test mode. This gives you a separate test environment where you can run through the full purchase flow without processing real payments. We’ll start here so you can quickly test Fontdue end-to-end.
Navigate to Font collections and click Upload fonts. Drop in your font files (OTF and/or TTF22Fontdue generates WOFF files for you automatically but you may upload your own here if you want. See Webfonts for details.) for an entire family or superfamily, and enter a Price per style so customers can buy individual stylesFont styleA distinct member of a family – the font files under it that share one style name¹ (e.g. Regular, Bold, Italic), one file per format. Usually weights and slants, but a family can divide however its design calls for. The unit customers buy; often shortened to style, and priced as its own SKU.¹The typographic subfamily name (Name ID 17), the field Fontdue reads to group files into a style. .33You can leave pricing until later and set prices at other levels too – families, bundles, and so on. See Pricing. Click Save.
After a moment, you’ll see your fonts organized automatically into a collection.
Navigate to Licenses. With no licenses yet, the page shows a set of presets to start from – click Desktop, a good first choice. The preset fills in sensible defaults for a Desktop license.
You can review and edit the multipliers and variable options now or later. Click Save.
Navigate to Settings → Payments and click Set up Stripe account. This creates a Stripe Connect account linked to your Fontdue store.44If you have an existing Stripe account, you will be able to use the same login information, but this will set you up with a Fontdue-specific account. In your Stripe dashboard, you can switch between your accounts in the top left.
Stripe will walk you through their onboarding process. You need to enter your real business information and connect your bank account.
Once complete, you’ll be redirected back to Fontdue and your payments page will confirm the connection.
Open the demo template by clicking your site name in the top of sidebar and clicking View site. This is the demo template, which you can populate more later. If you only uplaoded one font, the homepage is the product page for that font collection. Click Buy and proceed through the checkout. Use your real email address, and one of Stripe’s test cards (e.g. 4242 4242 4242 4242) with any future expiration date and any CVC.
Complete the purchase. You should see the order appear in Orders in your test mode dashboard, and you should receive an email with the receipt.
